Non-Profit Going Solar
To save on energy costs, The Friendship Service Center, a non-profit, as four buildings that are going solar in New Britain, Connecticut by taking advantage of tax incentives.

How it Works: Non-Profit Reduces Energy Costs & Investors Reduce Taxes
SDC Energy pairs investors with, in this particular situation, the Service Centers, to create an environmentally friendly, win-win benefit for the two. Investing for Good – With Your Tax Dollars
Most people don’t realize that Congress provides tax incentives in order to advance the renewable energy market objectives through your tax dollars. Last year alone, Congress provided $13 Billion.

Non-Profits Can’t Utilize Tax Incentives, But You Can
Non-profits are always looking for the best use of the money they are given to make it stretch so that it can help as many people as possible, in the best ways possible. But, since they are non-profits, they can’t take advantage of any of the tax incentives Congress offers. But, you can.

When you invest in a solar project that is paired with a non-profit, you can access these tax incentives. By repurposing your tax dollars, you are effectively “self-directing” how your taxes are being used. The non-profit is benefiting by receiving a donation that helps them reduce their energy costs while continuing their mission. You’re benefiting by fulfilling a philanthropic need and accessing the renewable energy tax incentives that are readily available.
